IELTS is a Provisional English Language test jointly managed by the British Council formerly, and IDP- IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English.
The test is designed to check a candidate’s English proficiency on the four skills - listening, reading, writing and speaking. Results are on a band score from 0 – 9 with 9 being the highest as an expert user. The band scores are co-related to the CEFR bands for beginner, intermediate and advanced user. The score requirement vary depending on the institution or company that you are applying to. The Test Report Form (TRF) will give individual scores for each of the modules i.e., listening, reading, writing and speaking and an overall band score which is an average of the individual module band score.
